Field Paste
Cleansing clay for hoof care
Field Paste cleans and cares for the underside of the horse’s hoof, keeping the frog and sole strong and healthy.
The ingredients support the natural growth of healthy tissue, especially when well rubbed into the surface of the frog. The active ingredients also help strengthen the hoof and frog tissue without being caustic or harmful.
Due to its thick, paste-like consistency, Field Paste stays in the deep grooves of the foot longer than thinner solutions.
Clean the hooves if necessary. Apply the paste deeply into the lateral grooves and onto the frog and sole. Reapply if necessary or when the hooves are cleaned. Once improvement is visible, reapply weekly to keep the soles healthy and strong. Use a thin layer that is well rubbed in if the paste does not adhere well or if the horse is stabled.
How do I ensure that Field Paste adheres well to the sole?
Make sure the foot is clean and dry, and rub a thin layer of Field Paste well into the sole. The more you apply, the greater the chance it will come loose all at once.
Can I use Field Paste on the skin?
Field Paste is intended for use on the hoof and frog. We advise against using it in other places, as it may cause irritation.
Should I wear gloves when applying Field Paste?
Gloves are not necessary for personal protection (but do wash your hands after use), but they are a good idea to keep your hands clean, as Field Paste is quite sticky.
Should I use Field Paste, Sole Paint or Sole Cleanse?
For minor issues, regular use of Sole Cleanse is recommended. Once the issues are resolved, this product is easy to apply and inexpensive to use as a preventative. For more severe cases or when regular use is not possible, use Field Paste for horses turned out outdoors and Sole Paint for horses stabled or turned out in drier weather. If you are unsure, or if your horse is stabled and also turned out in the field, it is best to use a thin layer of Field Paste.
