Recommended use:
Add water to make a mash due to the structure of the pellets: these were developed to break down quickly in water and can therefore cause esophageal obstruction when eaten dry by greedy eaters (or those with dental problems).
Use 3 parts water for 1 part dry product. Can be prepared with cold or lukewarm water: finish in a few minutes.
Maximum soaking time before feeding to horse is 1 hour. Longer soaking is not recommended for hygiene reasons.
Minimum amount to provide minerals and vitamins: 100 grams per 100 kg body weight. This can be given in one feeding or multiple feedings.
For weight gain: feed as needed, taking into account stomach volume. Example: a horse with normal weight of 500 kg can safely process 6 liters of mash per feeding (this includes the water). Daily frequency: no limit, advised to leave three hours between feedings when using maximum amounts.
The above recommendations are in addition to roughage. Always ensure sufficient roughage and fresh drinking water is available to the horse.
Can your horse no longer process roughage? For example, due to dental problems? Then consider a roughage replacement in the form of mash.
