Laminitis

ROUGHAGE IS ALWAYS THE BASIS

Horses suffering from laminitis need a carefully adjusted diet to support recovery and prevent further problems. Laminitis is a painful inflammation of the hoof laminae, often caused by a metabolic disturbance, such as in EMS, IR or PPID. Nutrition plays a crucial role here: the horse should receive roughage with a low sugar and starch content (low NSC value), such as soaked hay, possibly supplemented with Coolstance Copra. Quick and easy roughage analysis is possible via Vitalbix Roughage Scan.

In addition, a balancer can help supplement the necessary vitamins and minerals without adding extra sugars or calories. The liver also deserves extra support, as it plays an important role in removing waste products and maintaining metabolic balance. The goal is to keep blood sugar stable, reduce inflammation (Omega 3 helps) and relieve the body as much as possible.
