What does NutriMash do for the intestinal flora?
Feed changes, starchy diets, stress and medications can disrupt the bacterial gut flora and lead to reduced nutrient absorption. This can manifest itself in thin manure, colic or laminitis, among other things. Reduced resistance, poor shedding, less work ethic and poorer recovery after exercise are also symptoms, in which the intestines are often not immediately thought of. While a healthy intestinal flora is the basis for a healthy horse. All Vitalbix products support a healthy stomach and intestinal flora thanks to a high fibre content and a low starch and sugar content. Vitalbix NutriMash also contains an extra high proportion of prebiotic fibres (including inulin and pectin). These help the growth of good gut bacteria. Horses on a ration of roughage + Vitalbix show an improvement in manure quality in practice, and a reduced sensitivity to ration changes (e.g. start of grazing season).
Does Vitalbix NutriMash contain vitamins and minerals?
Vitalbix NutriMash is intended as a supplement to Vitalbix Daily Complete or Vitalbix Active+ and contains with the exception of Vitalbix Daily Pure. B vitamins, no added vitamins and minerals. This also allows you to feed NutriMash in larger quantities without overdosing certain minerals (such as selenium). In principle, horses produce enough B vitamins in their own bodies. However, when horses are sick, have a disturbed intestinal flora or have to perform heavily, a deficiency of B vitamins can occur in the body.
Can I mix in other Vitalbix products?
Sure! If your horse has difficulty chewing, or is a fussy eater, it is fine to mix your Daily Complete, Active+, Balance+ or Breed & Grow with NutriMash. It’s also a popular ‘hiding place’ for supplements!
My horse has a sensitive stomach, is Vitalbix a healthy choice?
Sufficient roughage (hay and grass) spread over the day and night is important to keep your horse’s digestive system healthy. Make sure your horse is not without roughage for more than 4-6 hours. In case of gastric ulcers, no longer than 2 hours. Products with a high starch and sugar content (> 15%) can have a negative impact on the pH in the stomach (lowering the pH in the stomach). For horses with sensitive stomachs, it is therefore preferable to choose food with a starch and sugar content <of 15%. Vitalbix NutriMash contains a high fiber content and contains a total of 8% starch and sugar.
Is Vitalbix NutriMash suitable for my overly skinny horse?
The basis of a healthy weight is sufficient roughage, hay / hay / fresh grass of good quality. Make sure your horse has unlimited access to roughage, avoid periods without roughage. In many cases, the cause of being underweight is insufficient roughage. Is your horse getting unlimited roughage of good quality and still not gaining weight? Then have your horse examined by a veterinarian to rule out health problems such as worm infestation, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, stomach ulcers, limited intestinal function, a fungus in the intestines or limited liver or kidney function, etc. Too much starch and sugars in the ration can disrupt your horse’s intestinal flora. This results in a reduced absorption of nutrients from the feed. In this case, an adjustment of the ration can lead to an improvement. Limit foods with a high starch and sugar content such as regular cereal biks and muesli. Combine various Vitalbix products for optimal results:

My horse really likes soup, can it be even thinner?
No problem. Above all, make it the way your horse likes it best. With our own horses we have 1 that prefers to bite it very thickly, almost like a cake. But also 1 who prefers to drink it. It does not detract from the effect on the intestines. In any case, it is always important that your horse has access to fresh drinking water.
Can I also give it to my foal?
You can feed Vitalbix NutriMash at a young age, from about 3 months. Start with a small amount of about 200 grams per day and slowly build up as needed. Do not give a horse up to 1 year of age more than 1 kg per day, a foal of half a year max. 500-600 grams per day. For adult horses, we recommend a maximum of approx. 2 kg per day. For ponies, half the dose applies.
