HORSE ALPIN SENIOR is a supplemental feed containing high-protein Myoalpin® fibres and is formulated for older horses and horses that have difficulty chewing, ensuring consumption of roughage and important protein – even for horses that can no longer chew their hay.
HORSE ALPIN SENIOR contains easily digestible proteins and amino acids for healthy muscle metabolism and supports muscle maintenance in older horses. Hydrothermally processed flakes made of maize and barley provide the horse with extra energy. Cold-pressed linseed cake is also high in omega-3 fatty acids (alpha-Linoleic acid) as well as important mucilaginous substances and bulking agents substances for a healthy gastrointestinal tract. Gently dried carrot chips provide natural beta-Carotene – the precursor to vitamin A – and others important trace elements. Its optimum protein-energy ratio supports metabolism for healthy feed digestion.
HORSE ALPIN SENIOR is produced without adding molasses and without preservatives.

Feeding Recommendation
- as single crib feed: 100 - 500 g per 100 kg ideal body weight per day
- as supplementation to the conventional crib feed: 1 kg substitutes approximately 1 kg of grain
- AGROBS® recommends slow feeding. When switching feeds, we advise that the feed be moistened or soaked if needed, particularly for fast eaters, senior horses, horses with dental problems and those who don’t drink enough.

As a source of minerals, we recommend an AGROBS® mineral feed that is adapted to your horse and its needs.
Do Horse Alpin Senior have to be soaked?
Horses, that drink enough water and, therefore, produce enough saliva, can be fed with dry
PreAlpin Senior. Unfortunately, many aged horses have an insufficient intake of water. Here, dampening the feed is appropriate. But also when changing the feed, with hasty eaters, old horses and horses with dental problems, we advise you to generally moisten or soak the feed.
If Horse Alpin Senior is fed without dampening or soaking, is there a risk of oesophageal obstruction?
In general,
Horse Alpin Senior is appropriate for dry feeding. However, in fast eaters as well as in horses that gulp, it should be dampened or soaked.
Can Horse Alpin Senior be fed to horses with known problems of laminitis?
In case of laminitis, it is better to fed a grain-free diet. In these cases our
AlpenGrün Müsli, our
PreAlpin Senior, are especially appropriate.
Is Horse Alpin Senior appropriate for horses with metabolic disorders, such as EMS and Cushing?
Insulin resistance can occur in both diseases. Therefore, the ration should be free of grain, which means
Horse Alpin Senior is not appropriate.
In case of sole feeding of Horse Alpin Senior, is an additional mineral feed needed?
Yes, the new recipe does NOT include
Naturmineral.
Why is Naturmineral not included in Horse Alpin Senior anymore? Is that a disadvantage for the client?
No, a much more individual diet, adapted to the individual horse, is possible now. Mineral feed always should be fed demand-oriented.
Can Horse Alpin Senior be fed to horses with dental problems?
Yes, preferably soaked in this case.
Does Horse Alpin Senior contain molasses?
No, it is free of molasses. The sugar content comes from the processed kinds of plants and grains.
How big are the processed linseed cake pellets?
