Field Paste

Cleansing clay hoof dressing

Field Paste cleanses and conditions the underside of the horse’s foot, helping frogs and soles stay strong and healthy.

Its ingredients support the natural growth of healthy tissue, especially when rubbed well into the surface of the frog. The active agents also help the hoof and frog tissue to toughen without being caustic or damaging.

The thick, paste-like consistency allows Field Paste to stay in the deep grooves of the foot for longer than thinner solutions.

Flo Féa TIP: to be compared with thé best bodylotion EVER in human terms.

The natural ingredients have been chosen either for their cleansing and drawing properties or to improve the consistency of the paste.

2022 Update: our ingredients are still exactly the same, high quality, effective ingredients we have always used. We just display less of them on the label for labelling regulatory requirements and protection of our formula.

Clay

Natural clay blend

A blend of clays to help draw inpurities out of the sole and frog and give the Field Paste its unique consistency.

Honey

Honey

Honey for its many beneficial properties and to improve the consistency of the product.

zinc oxide

Natural Minerals

Powerful but gentle compounds to support the correct microbia on the foot and nourish horn tissue.

eucalyptus oil

Essential oils

Highly effective essential oils that helps to toughen weakened structures, cleanse the area and penetrate deep into the structure of the foot

Pick out and clean feet if necessary. Smear paste deep into the lateral grooves and onto the frog and sole. Re-apply as necessary or when feet are picked out. Once improvement is shown, re-apply weekly to keep soles healthy and tough. Use a thin layer rubbed in well if the paste is not sticking well or the horse is stabled.

'Milly'

fieldpaste_milly1fieldpaste_milly2fieldpaste_milly3fieldpaste_milly4fieldpaste_milly5

‘Milly’ came in from the field with a large portion of her frog sliced off, sufficient for underlying tissues to be exposed. After a couple of days under veterinary care she was taken back to her yard. The owner applied Field Paste daily to protect it from bacteria, foreign bodies and to encourage regrowth.

After a couple of applications Milly’s frog started to harden up and look far healthier despite being field kept. The farrier was “amazed” by how much her frog grew in a short space of time. The owner believed that without Field Paste Milly would have to of been kept in a stable the entirety of the winter.

Milly’s soles and frogs now look very healthy and Field Paste is only being used once a week.

“The farrier was amazed at how much her frog had grown in a short space of time. I will definitely keep a tub on stand by!”

'Max'

fieldpaste_max1

‘Max’ is a 17.1hh, 7yr old Hanoverian x Irish Sports Horse who is barefoot. He developed deep central sulcus cracks, foul odour and black ‘ooze’ on his feet after his owner (a veterinary osteopath) had been away.On her return she applied Field Paste daily (rather too generously as per photo!). Max continued to be turned out every day.

Within 24 hours the foul odour had gone and the frog was already beginning to harden and heal. Within 2 days nearly all signs of blackening and odour had gone.

“I was so delighted with the product and how quickly it worked. I now live in South West France and we have a very different set of environmental challenges for the barefoot horse, and have a very specific routine for his feet. However I still continue to use all Red Horse Products – not only for the feet but for flies too. I would certainly recommend Red Horse Products to everyone – they are a first aid store cupboard essential!”

'Boss'

fieldpaste_boss1fieldpaste_boss2

‘Boss’ an 18.1hh shire was purchased with blackened, smelly frogs and deep sulcus cracks not helped by poor hoof  balance. The crevices continued between the bulbs of his heels. Although the farrier improved matters somewhat tar, iodine, peroxide etc. brought no improvement.

After a week of using Field Paste he had shown drastic improvement, showing visible structural improvement.

Within a few months the cracks had closed and frogs become a healthy size and shape.

“Your products along with a patient farrier mean the frogs are far healthier and those deep cracks are a thing of the past. My horse is more comfortable being shod which is significant progress. You know it’s a good product when the farrier asks what you’re using!”

'Charlie'

Horses foot after Field Paste

I wanted to write to you to tell you how thrilled I am at the success of your product Field paste.. My horse ‘Charlie’ (15.1 Irish Cob mare) had a problem with hacking out alone so I sent her to a trainer. They have done a fab job with that but struggled to keep her smelly, black feet at bay which has always been a problem and when she came back to me it was as bad as ever. It was deep into her frogs and causing much cracking and black, smelly slime resided in the collateral grooves. I have tried many things, daily washing with salt water… using antifungal soap… spraying with athletes foot preparation! Nothing has ever cleared it completely and often is time consuming. Shoes were taken off as you just cant get underneath the shoe or clear the nail  holes and I was recommended Field Paste by the barefoot trimmer.

Within the first few days I saw improvement… truly I did! What I noticed first was that when I picked out her feet 3 days after applying the Field Paste you could in fact still smell the product. After one week the foul, diseased smell had gone completely and had started to clear from the frogs. In all it took about 3 weeks to clear it completely which is miraculous as she has had it badly for 3 years with me just trying to keep it at bay.

She lives out and I now just apply a little to the central sulcus and the collateral  grooves either side of the frog after I pick out her feet and the odour and blackening is showing no sign of returning and all the cracking to her frogs has disappeared. The condition of the whole underside of her foot has improved measurably.

Thank you for making such a great easy to apply and use product that actually does what it promises.. Charlie and I are very, very, grateful.
