What are natural soil conditioners and what do they do?

Soil conditioners are natural substances that improve the structure, fertility, and biological balance of the soil. These include:

• Rock powders (such as Eifel lava powder or grit, Actimin, and Vulkamin): are rich in trace elements, stimulate soil life, and support nutrient uptake.
• Clay minerals: improve moisture retention, making them essential for dry or sandy soils.
• Seashell lime: a mild, slow-acting source of lime that counteracts acidification without disrupting soil life.

These products are also known as “remedial fertilizers”: you don’t use them every year, but in cycles of 3 to 5 years to replenish structural deficiencies and restore the natural balance.
