Is it only suitable for seniors?

In principle, it is suitable for any horse. With its short fiber length, AlpenGrün Senior Muesli was specially developed for horses with dental problems (especially older horses).

How big are the processed pellets?

Approx. 2,5 - 3 mm

What is the function of the milk thistle cake in it?

Milk thistle cake, and especially the silymarin it contains, strengthens the liver in its function as a central metabolic and detoxification organ.

Why are the sunflower seeds hulled?

Hulled sunflower seeds can be better utilized by horses with dental problems.

Why does AlpenGrün Seniormüsli contain apple pulp?

Due to the pectins, hemicellulose and cellulose it contains, apple pulp has a positive effect on the digestive tract and also promotes acceptance.

Why does AlpenGrün Senior Muesli contain AGROBS® Bierhefe Pur? Can Bierhefe Pur be fed separately, or is it sufficient?

Brewer's yeast contains several B vitamins. B vitamins are produced by the bacteria in the gut flora, provided sufficient roughage, such as hay, is consumed. With dental problems, this is usually no longer the case, so supplementing with brewer's yeast can be beneficial, especially for older horses.
The proportions in the mixture have been chosen in such a way that Bierhefe Pur can be supplemented separately if necessary.

The rule of thumb for healthy horses is: no more than 1 g of fat per kilogram of body weight. Each meal should contain no more than 0,5 g of fat per kilogram of body weight.

Can mineral feed be skipped when feeding AlpenGrün Seniormüsli?

No, AlpenGrün Senior Muesli does not contain any additives. The naturally occurring trace elements, such as zinc and selenium, do not meet the horse's needs. Therefore, supplementation with mineral feed is always necessary. Agrobs Senior Mineral is perfectly suited to the needs of older horses.

Does AlpenGrün Senior Muesli need to be soaked before feeding? If AlpenGrün Senior Muesli is fed dry, is there a risk of esophageal obstruction?

Unfortunately, many older horses don't get enough water. In this case, it's helpful to moisten the feed. We also recommend moistening or soaking the feed in general when changing feed, for fast eaters, older horses, and horses with dental problems.

The decision to feed dry food always lies in the hands of the horse owner.

What quantity can be fed?

For both types. Horses of frugal breeds are usually fed a much smaller amount so they have something to eat.

Yes, but in small amounts, as these horses usually require a low-calorie diet and are usually overweight and need to lose weight.

Is AlpenGrün Seniormüsli suitable for horses with Cushing's disease?

Yes, AlpenGrün Seniormüsli is grain- and molasses-free and therefore also suitable for feeding horses with ECS/PPID.

Can I add more oil? And if so, what should I keep in mind regarding dosage?

Yes, oils can, of course, be added as an energetic boost. Oils should always be fed slowly, while simultaneously increasing the amounts gradually. Larger amounts of oil should always be offered in several small meals spread throughout the day.
